John-Alex Mason plays Music on the Mall in Winter Park on Sept. 2
Ryan Summerlin September 2, 2011
WINTER PARK, CO – John-Alex Mason’s one-man band will entertain the audience at Cooper Creek Square’s Music on the Mall this Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with an interesting array of instruments that include the djembe, bolofon, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica, guitar, bass and flos, kick drums, cigar-box and electric guitars, and deep soulful vocals.
John-Alex started as a singer, learned guitar to accompany himself and then added drums to get people dancing. Strong hooks and great songcraft set the stage for him to explore deep delta and hill country blues grooves and his own brand of roots, rock and trance.
Without loops or recorded effects John-Alex takes fans on a journey weaving his original tunes and roots music into infectious jams and grooves. He learned his craft on the street and in Juke Joints where the crowd is counted as active participant in the show rather than passive onlookers. His performance brings the audience into his world where tone and poetry are paramount and rhythm is a way of life.
Music On The Mall is a summer concert series held every Friday through September 2 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Cooper Creek Square in Winter Park. The series is free and open to all ages. For more information go to www.coopercreeksquare.com or call 970-726-8891.
