In response to Kourse’s letter
I feel I have to respond to the passionate and somewhat suspicious defense of the Three Lakes Water and Sanitation board and manager by someone who doesn’t even live in the district, with a few questions for Ms. Kourse. Have you paid taxes for over 20 years to Three Lakes Water and Sanitation, and received absolutely zero benefits from your tax dollars? Do you know that Three Lakes Water and Sanitation was established to protect the lakes, not private wells? Are you aware that over 90 percent of rural America is on a septic system? Are you aware of the fact that Three Lakes must service faulty sewers on a weekly basis, and in that over 20 years, our septic systems have had no leakage or spillage? Do you really think that Sally Blea deserves compensation over twice the amount of our County Commissioners , and in 30 years admittedly has no master or strategic plan for Three Lakes Water and Sanitation? That she can issue a variance to a homeowner a year ago, so that he builds a $50,000 septic system for his house, to only find out less than a year later that he has to dismantle it and pay another $50-75,000 to connect to a sewer? That in the past, Three Lakes has added sewer lines at it’s own expense, and now is requiring homeowners to pay for the installation? Do you believe that the ,”concerned citizens” on the board are really making “educated decisions,” when they have no scientific or environmental studies to back up those decisions, and refuse to do so ? That they refuse to engage in a dialogue with the people in the district, but rather make their decisions in private under the mantle of “executive session? I applaud your passion, but urge you to find another direction in which to pursue it. Perhaps you could direct it to the Grand Lake residents who will be forced to leave their homes because of the “decisions,” made by the people you so passionately support.
