To the Editor:
Anyone with information about Charles Lindbergh landing the famous airplane, Spirit of St. Louis, at Knight Ranch, please contact me. If you personally witnessed it or your relatives saw that plane and told you about it, let me know, because I have uncovered some research related to our new Around Granby history book which indicates Charles Lindbergh may have flown and landed the Spirit of St. Louis, in 1927, on the Harry Knight ranch (now
under the waters of Lake Granby).
We do have newspaper clippings and eye witness accounts of Charles Lindbergh landing a bi-plane and even giving rides to locals from the ranch airfield Harry Knight built during the late 1920s and even 1930s. Knight was a contemporary aviator/enthusiast and was instrumental in securing financing for the Spirit of St. Louis flight because he was an influential banker in St. Louis, Mo.
