WINTER PARK – Jim Myers was selected as mayor for another term and Jimmy Lahrman will be the Mayor Pro Tem.
They assumed their posts on Friday after being selected by their fellow councilmen. Lahrman replaces Councilman Chris Seemann, who requested not to repeat his term as mayor pro tem.
A ordinance adopted in March that categorizes infected trees as “nuisances” is now in effect. About 60 properties in the town have been identified as harboring such trees, according to Town Manager Drew Nelson.
However, the town is encouraging residents to come into compliance by September instead of resorting immediately to the abatement process, Nelson said.
The town-commissioned engineering study for signalization at Kings Crossing will be submitted to the Colorado Department of Transportation this month. The consultants hired by the town are analyzing traffic counts and other data.
Several different interests – including the towns of Fraser and Winter Park and the developers of Grand Park and Rendezvous – have proposed placing a new traffic signal on US Highway 40 near the Fraser-Winter Park boundary. They are not in agreement about where the signal should be.
