George Edwards grew up in Kremmling, Colo. He was born in Denver to Claude and Frieda Edwards on Oct. 31, 1936. He is survived by son Tim, daughter Shelly, granddaughter Kris, and brother Bill. He was preceded in death by his sister Maxine and brother Bob. After graduating from Kremmling Union High School, he joined the Air Force and served from 1955 to 1959 in Nebraska, England and Korea. After returning to Kremmling, he met and married C.K. Harrison, the daughter of longtime resident Smokey Harrison. He worked for the Kremmling Timber Company for a couple of years and was a driver for Independent Gas for seven years. For a number of years, he worked for the Colorado Department of Highways as a foreman. After a forced retirement due to a disability, he took up a new occupation as a professional photographer. He has taken photographs of many Grand County brides, school athletes, school events and lots of landscapes. In the summer you could always find him in his booth at the art shows. There are many framed photographs hanging in homes and businesses throughout the nation that he took. George has lived in the same house in Granby since 1976. He served a term with the East Grand County School District. He spent one day a week in the classrooms of the district so he would have a good basis from which to make decisions. Due to his longtime contributions to the communities on both sides of the county, George was awarded the Middle Park Pioneer of Year award in September 2012. He is a member of the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist. Following his wife’s death in 2003, George married Geraldine Funkner Middelkamp, who has deep roots in Kremmling. They have spent the past 10 years living in Granby while spending the winter months in her home in Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 26, at Saint John the Baptist Episcopal Church of Granby, 390 E Garnet.
