Born and raised in New Jersey, Estelle was a resident of Monmouth County for nearly 25 years. She completed nurse’s training at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, N.J., and worked in private practices in Perth Amboy and Middletown, N.J. In 1977, after raising her son and daughter, Estelle met and married the love of her life and set out with Angelo for new adventures in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Estelle loved Grand County and was a true friend and neighbor. She cheered on the Little League teams Angelo coached. She tirelessly campaigned for donations for a scoreboard at the Hot Sulphur Little League field. Estelle succeeded in her goal to have one installed and it still stands today.
It was her children (both by birth and remarriage) and grandchildren who brought her the most joy. She never missed recognizing each of them, and letting them know how proud she was of any accomplishment, great or small. A gifted pianist, her talents and passion for the arts and music are a living legacy.
Estelle passed peacefully amid the mountains and wildlife she so loved with her family by her side.
Estelle is survived by her husband of 37 years Angelo Cappello and their canine companion Faith; son Joe Kanon and partner Larry of California; daughter Kris Matthews and husband George of Massachusetts; brother Fred Hansen and wife Vita of New Jersey; bonus children Cindy Cappello and partner Dennis Nave of Colorado; Janell and Tina Cappello of New Jersey; Joseph Cappello of Colorado; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Estelle’s name to the Mountain Family Center, 480 E Agate, Suite 1C, PO Box 638, Granby, Colo., 80446. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Share your memories of Estelle athttp://www.grandcountymortuary.com/.
