Skip Jacques passed away on June 6, 2013 after a year long battle with cancer.
Skip was born in Denver, CO. on October 8, 1942 to Dr. Thomas F. & Barbara Brunton Jacques, who preceeded him in death.
Skip graduated from East High in 1960. He earned his BS from CSU in 1965 & his M.D. in 1969 from the University of CO. School of Medicine.
Skip married his wife Janet in 1976 & they have two sons, Phillip Brunton (1977) & Stephen Hunter (1980). Stephen & his wife Roseanna have a son Liam Brunton that was born in August 2012.
Skip’s Grandparents, Mom & Pop Glessner, along with his parents started the Drowsy Water Dude Ranch. In the summers, Skip worked at the ranch taking the dudes on their daily rides & calling square dances at night. He also loved to help put the hay up at the end of summer. In the winters, you would find Skip on the ski slopes. Skip’s love for horses lead him to raise & show Quarter Horses trained in Cutting. Skip & his wife Janet hosted several horse shows @ the Flying Heels Arena that were well received by the community.
Skip had an accomplished career as a Neurosurgeon & Researcher that are too numerous to list. He was well respected in the medical community & by his peers.
A celebration was held in Moorpark, CA. in June to honor Skip’s life. In August, the family will travel to Granby to ride up into the hills behind the family ranch to spread his ashes. After the ride, there will be another celebration & pot luck (Aug. 17th) at the ranch for Skip’s Colorado friends & family. For more information, please contact Yvonne Knox.
