Jean Woods, formerly of Granby, passed away in her home in Milliken, Colo., on Dec. 23, 2013.
Jean was born in Tucson, Ariz., and raised in Norwood, Colo., by her parents Mildred Haines, a school teacher for Norwood Elementary and Lloyd Haines, a rancher. She was an only child. Jean spent several years on the ranch outside of Norwood until her father passed away, then moved into town. Jean participated as San Miguel County Fair Queen Attendant during her high school years and graduated in 1962 from Norwood High School as the class Salutatorian.
Jean went on to marry Jerry Woods and have five children. She later divorced. Jean located to Granby in 1987, residing there until 1999. She spent many years chasing her children and grandchildren to various sporting and rodeo events, and Jean ultimately settled in Milliken, Colo., in 2002. She retired in 2012, spending her time enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her faithful Australian Shepherd, Dancer, by her side.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Lloyd Haines and is survived by her children, Shawna Carr (Darroll) of Norwood, Colo.; Sheila Woods of Greeley, Colo.; Willie Woods (Tammy) of Gill, Colo.; Charlotte Woods of Granby, Colo.; and Connie Davis (Marcus) of Hot Sulphur Springs, Colo. Jean had 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Alyssa Carr (Braylee) of Norwood, Colo.; Brennan Carr of Norwood, Colo.; Tyler Brown (Samantha, Talon, Gavin) of Montrose, Colo.; Tanner Brown (Brenda, Terran, Brooklyn) of Delta, Colo.; Tasha Brown of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; Lacey Woods of Greeley, Colo.; Lauren Woods of Greeley, Colo.; Croix Frank of Granby, Colo.; and Caitlin and Dakota Davis of Hot Sulphur Springs, Colo. No services are planned at this time.
