Mark Albrecht passed away peacefully while camping near Winter Park, Colo. Mark’s love of the outdoors was rooted in his steadfast involvement with the Boy Scouts while growing up in Oswego, Ill. He worked as a Counselor at Camp Chin-Be- Gota, participated in remote hiking and camping, and spoke with great affection of the time he spent at Philmont Scout Ranch in Raton, New Mexico. Mark earned the ranks of Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, and achieved Brotherhood Membership in the Order of the Arrow, some of the highest honors bestowed by The Boy Scouts of America.

Mark graduated from Oswego High School in 1979 and was a member of the cross country team as well as playing trumpet in the band. His many life-long friends share fond memories of their experience together. A good student, Mark was a member of the National Honor Society and chose to attend college in Colorado. He first visited Colorado while on a family vacation in 1974 and fell in love with the mountains and the Winter Park area. He spent summers while in high school and college working as a wrangler at the Sitzmark Ranch. He graduated with a degree in Business from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado in 1983.

Upon graduation, Mark returned to Illinois and worked in the banking industry in Aurora, Illinois and later became the owner and operator of Albrecht Homes in Oswego, Illlinois. He returned to Winter Park in 2001 and has worked at the Winter Park Ski area, the Continental Divide Candle Company and various other businesses in town. He never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone.

Mark is survived by his parents Markel and Marianne Albrecht of Tabernash, Colo., beloved brother Calvin Daniel Albrecht of Fraser, Colo., sister Anna Marie Albrecht of Brookfield, Ill., step-sisters Jamie Stalzer-Hakey and Meg Ferguson of Ill., nephews Joseph John “Jack” Krasovec of Chicago, Ill. and Ivan Krasovec of Minneapolis, Minn. He was pre-deceased by his mother Mary Elizabeth Keating of Joliet, Ill.. Mark was married to Tina Walsh and was blessed to be the step-father of her sons Gavin and Keegan Sullivan. A great many friends and family members mourn his passing and wish him tranquil rest.
