Robert Terry Beeson, age 69, died at Northwest Heart Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, on Thursday, July 3, 2014.
Terry was born March 19, 1945 in Shawnee, Okla. to Barbara and James Beeson. He graduated from Tascosa High School and married Rhenda Fuqua. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in forest management and a master’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University. His education prepared him well for a long, fulfilling career with the Colorado State Forest Service where he served on fire crews and communications teams throughout the Western states. He also assisted on other natural disaster teams and the recovery efforts after Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Ivan.
Terry enjoyed contributing to his Fraser Valley, Colorado community as a member of the Rotary Club, Fraser Valley Lions Club, and Shriners International. He lived a wonderful outdoor life in the Colorado Rocky Mountains where he loved skiing with his family and friends, singing, playing guitar, and tinkering with anything that had a motor. Later in life, he moved back to Texas to farm and ranch with his wife, and he continued to enjoy singing with his church choir. A kind, generous, humble man, Terry will be remembered by the way he made everyone laugh and want to sing along while he played his guitar around the fire.
Terry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rhenda Beeson, his three children, Mindy Hill, Lanise Taunton-Rigby, and Jess Beeson, Mindy’s husband, David Hill, grandsons, Cory Hill and Kai Hill, his sister, Beverly Carter, his nephews, David Carter, Heath Carter, Bryce Carter, his niece, Lauren Larsen, and extended family.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Church of the Eternal Hills in Tabernash. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Fraser Valley Lions Club, the Church of the Eternal Hills, or the charity of your choice in Terry’s honor.
