Ruth E. Griffith, 91, of Canon City, died in Pueblo. Ruth and her parents moved to Denver, in 1928 when she was 7 years old. Ruth graduated from East High School in Denver in 1939. She entered the University of Colorado in Boulder where she pledged the Alpha Phi Sorority. She served as chapter president her senior year. It was on the Boulder campus that she met her future husband, John E. Griffith.
Ruth earned a Bachelor’s Degree in the spring of 1943 and began teaching Home Economics at Erie High School in Erie.
She and Jack were married in Denver on June 8, 1946. They became the proud parents of four children.
After the children were mostly grown, Ruth returned to teaching at Douglas County Middle School in Castle Rock where she taught English. In 1975 she and Jack moved to a cattle ranch in Kremmling to fulfill Jack’s lifelong dream of ranching in the Colorado high country.
