Jessie Louise Walker McLimore
Jessie Louise Walker McLimore, was born June 27, 1931, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the fifth of seven children born to Hardin and Anna Pearl (Peak) Walker. She was known to her family as “Nootsie.”
At age 18, Louise was employed by General Electric making television and radio tubes. On July 7, 1951, she was wed to Earl McLimore, her Kentucky sweetheart, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. After their first three children were born in Kentucky, they moved to Colorado and put down their roots in Kremmling where three more children were born.
Louise nurtured her children as well as babysat and cared for numerous other children. After her own children graduated, she began selling Avon. In 1998, Earl and Louise moved to Canon City to enjoy retirement. Louise passed away at Skyline Ridge Nursing Center on December 31, 2012, at the age of 81.
Raising their large family was not always easy but she made life fun and always had time for family and friends. Unexpected guests were always warmly welcomed. Louise was willing to provide the needs of others at any time. Christmas and Easter were her two favorite holidays, not because of the festivities, but because of their meaning. She was a spiritual inspiration to her children and friends.
Loving, caring, quiet, fun and “my favorite Aunt” are some of the words that describe Louise. Even though Alzheimer’s robbed her of her memory, she never lost her sense of humor.
Louise is survived by her husband, Earl; children, Connie Madsen, Doris McCallie (Steve), David McLimore, Sally Cox (Ron), and Walter McLimore (Elaine); thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister Edna Rhinerson; brother Jack Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Kelly McLimore; granddaughter Betsie Madsen, her parents; brothers William and Marvin Walker; sisters Margaret Slagel and Jean Barlow; and son-in-law Pete Madsen.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Kremmling, Colo. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Rocky Mountain North Chapter at 4104 Outlook Blvd., Bldg. B, Pueblo, CO 81008.
