Gymnasts compete at CARA Championships

This spring and summer saw 16 girls and three boys compete for the Alpine Gymnastics team. We had fifteen girls make it to the regional competition held on July 15 and 16 at Elizabeth High School, in Elizabeth, Colorado. The competition was steep but seven placed in the top six in their level and age group to qualify them for the State Championships on July 22 and 23 at Arvada West High School: Alana Krueger, Emma Lence, Olivia Maurais, Grace Schneider, Sofia Olsson, Georgia Martin, and Georgia Harvey.

Not all prevailed at the State Meet, however just to make it to State is a wonderful accomplishment. Those making it on the podium were Emma Lence with 6th place vault, 5th place floor and 4th place all around. Olivia Maurais made the podium with 4th place vault and 6th place floor. Grace Schneider with 3rd place vault, 4th place beam and 2nd place floor. Sofia Olsson with 2nd place floor; and Georgia Harvey with 3rd place Beam, 5th place floor and 6th place all around. Well done ladies!!

Our boys team only had two of the three participate in the state meet on Friday July 29 at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center in Fraser. About 45 boys from eleven teams make up the CARA Boys Competitive Gymnastics League. Carson Mahaffey won 4th place on vault, and Asher Michel won 5th place on high bar and 4th place on rings. Good job boys!! Great Season Everyone! Go USA!
