WINTER PARK — With snow already beginning to fall, now is the perfect time to upgrade gear for a discounted price at the 29th annual Winter Park Competition Center Ski & Snowboard Swap, taking place from 5-9 p.m. this Friday on Oct. 11. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., this Saturday on Oct. 12.
The swap will be held at West Portal Station at the base of Winter Park Resort and will feature individuals and vendors selling last year’s stock with savings up to 75 percent. The ski swap, a Winter Park institution for nearly three decades, is open to the public but includes a Friday entry fee of $5 per person or $10 for a family. Proceeds Benefit the Winter Park Competition Center and the Winter Park Ski Education Foundation.
There is no Saturday entry fee, but those looking for the best deals on the best equipment are encouraged to attend Friday because that’s when the selection will be at its peak. The swap will feature skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, helmets, and apparel (including outerwear jackets, pants, hats, gloves, socks, and much more). The event features clothing and equipment suited for children as well as adults.
In addition to purchasing equipment, those looking to sell their gently used equipment and apparel are welcome as well. All brands are welcome, but items must be dropped off at West Portal Station between 10 a.m and 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, with 20 percent of all individual sales retained by the Winter Park Competition Center. Individual sale forms can be downloaded online at http://www.winterparkresort.com under the “Events” tab .
