State wrestling update: MP’s Jennings advances to state semifinals

Middle Park’s Connor Jennings went to overtime to do it, but he advanced to Friday evening’s 3A semifinals at 195 pounds with a 8-7 win over Abren Tenorio of LaJunta.
The other Middle Park wrestlers did not fare as well in their 3A quarterfinal bouts.
Adam Visconti lost to Joshua Miller of Bennett 14-7 at 132 pounds.
Cody Garrett was pinned by Gunner Robinson of Alamosa in 0:46 at 182 pounds.
West Grand’s Stephen Terrazas also lost his quarterfinal match in the 2A 285-pound class, getting pinned (0:20) by Lane Venzke of Wiggins.
Middle Park’s Justin Halley was pinned by Miles Keane of St. Mary’s in his 3A 285-pound consolation match ending his tournament.
The three area wrestlers who lost in the morning quarterfinals, rebounded with wins in the consolation round on Friday evening to keep their podium hopes alive.
Adam Visconti won by decision (9-2) over Anthony Contreraz of Sheridan.
Cody Garrett won by decision (4-1) over Zeke Corral of Strasburg.
Stephen Terrazas won by pin (0:13) over Jarred Zumwalt of Swink.
These three wrestlers will return to the mat in the third round of consolation matches on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
