Statz resigns from East Grand Board of Ed

The East Grand School District (EGSD) Board of Education is looking for a new member.

The search for a new Board member is beginning after the Monday Nov. 1 resignation of EGSD Board member Bambi Statz, Ph.D. Statz formally resigned from her position on the East Grand Board of Education during the Monday night Board Work Session meeting held at Middle Park High School.

Statz’s resignation becomes effective in Dec. and was prompted by plans she has to relocate her primary residence outside of District No. 4, the specific district within the EGSD she represents. Statz plans to relocate to another area of Grand County, outside District No. 4., which covers the Winter Park and Fraser area east of US Highway 40.

“I do this with great regret,” Statz said Monday night Nov. 1. “I have enjoyed this opportunity to be a part of this school district. I would like to offer my services to assist the district in other ways but at this time I have to offer my resignation.”

Statz went on to inform the Board she was happy to continue serving until the Board appoints her replacement.

Statz was appointed to the EGSD Board of Education in Feb. 2016 after the resignation of former Board member Chip Besse. Statz and her husband John have lived in Grand County for nearly four-and-a-half-years, moving to the high country from Wisconsin where she worked for 40-years in public education for that state. During her tenure she served for a period as Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the State of Wis.

The EGSD Board of Education is now opening up the application process for new perspective Board members. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the EGSD Board of Education is encouraged to submit a letter of interest and a resume to the Board. To qualify for the position an individual must be a full-time resident of District No. 4.
