The Sasquatch Mountain Project Brings "Americana Jamgrass" to Cooper Creek Square
Ryan Summerlin July 27, 2012
Winter Park, CO – The Sasquatch Mountain Project (SMP) is the serendipitous combination of three local musicians that perform originals and covers that inspire dancing, singing, and sometimes just kicking back and enjoying the music. SMP will play at this Friday, July 27 at Music on the Mall at Cooper Creek Square from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Lead singer, songwriter Joe Rooyakker’s musical roots are based in country /folk; vocalist and lead guitar Tim Hubbard carries the band’s “rock-n-roll” edge; while Scott Torello, locally known as “Sasquatch,” has a fondness for bluegrass. Together it makes for an interesting blend the band likes to call “Americana Jamgrass,” allowing the SMP to cover the likes of Johnny Cash and John Prine as well as Neil Young, Led Zeppellin and Blind Mellon, to name a few. With 20 strings and three vocalists, the band enjoys playing some original songs and performing some of their favorite artists’ tunes in the SMP style while still allowing the audience to dance and sing along.
