WINTER PARK —The Fraser/Winter Park Police Department seized about 174 grams of methamphetamine and a number of other drugs from an employee housing area at the Winter Park Mountain Lodge on Friday, Aug. 23, according to police.
The bust was made after Officer Don Ransom of the department witnessed an individual exit a room while the officer was walking the hallways during a walk-through at the request of hotel management.
Ransom found a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine where the individual had been standing, according to police.
Ransom, along with Officer Matt Murdoch and Detective Brett Schroetlin initiated an investigation that resulted in a search warrant being issued for the room where the individual was seen exiting.
During the search of the room, officers say they seized the large quantity of methamphetamine, 7 grams of cocaine, several tabs of LSD, and a small amount of MDMA, or ecstasy. The majority of the items were packaged for sale, according to statements police released on Tuesday.
After the search, an arrest warrant was issued for the resident of the room, a 22 year-old Winter Park resident who remains at large, according to police. A second arrest warrant was obtained for the 20 year-old male originally contacted in the case.
The investigation is considered ongoing and additional arrests are expected to be made.
