Winter Park Rotary helps build Broome Hut
Ryan Summerlin December 18, 2012
The Winter Park-Fraser Valley Rotary Club has donated volunteers and money to help build the Broome Hut on Berthoud Pass.
The club donated $2,500 to help buy beds and other furniture for the hut. The Rotary District 5450, which includes the Fraser Valley Club, matched that amount for a total gift of $5,000. This is the first time any Grand County Rotary clubs received a match from our District.
This is a way to bring money into the county and the club plans to try it again for future projects, according to members.
Many of the club’s members have also hiked up to the hut to volunteer hours in the building process.
The Broome Hut is being built by the Grand Huts Association and will be completed by early next year. It is a beautiful place and will be a major attraction for our area.
