Update: Tabernash crash on Saturday, September 3

As of Sunday, September 4, the two children of the deceased woman involved in the crash in Tabernash on Saturday evening were released from ICU and are in stable condition.
On Saturday, September 3 at 7:15 p.m. Grand County Dispatch received a call of a head-on accident on US Highway 40 at the intersection with County Road 86.
This is approximately milepost 220 ½ near the second entrance to the Winter Park Highlands subdivision.
Grand County Sheriff's Deputies, Grand County EMS, Grand Fire Protection District, and Colorado State Patrol were all dispatched to the accident. Fraser Winter Park Police and a U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement Officer also responded to assist.
When First Responders arrived on the scene, they found that one of the drivers had been fatally injured and the accident involved numerous other injuries.
The 36-year-old female victim was pronounced dead on the scene by the Grand County Coroner.
The victim's children were transported to Middle Park Medical Center by Grand County EMS, and immediately air lifted to a Denver area hospitals.
The second involved vehicle was occupied by a family of four, and all were taken to Middle Park Medical Center. The male driver was later air lifted to a Denver hospital.
US 40 traffic was diverted onto county roads for approximately 5 ½ hours due to the accident investigation.
East Grand Fire District and Colorado Department of Transportation were both called in to assist with the accident scene.
The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
